When we think of parenting or “acting as” a mother or father what do you think of? I happen to think of a perfect mom who has everything neat, clean, organized, well-behaved children, and the list could go on. I also think of the rules of what this imaginary parent may have, they would have to be pretty strict to be perfect, right?

Well wrong the Lord, he IS perfection while not having out of the ordinary rules to keep us in line (his children). So what makes his parenting and our parenting different?

Well first he always wants us to be like him or in his image, now let’s see how we Parent! Do you yell a lot? Are you quick to anger or slow to mercy?

I know at the best of times I as a parent am not perfect in any way, I have flaws, and a short temper sometimes. Especially if I havent had a good morning cup of coffee with the appropriate amount of cream and sugar. God doesn’t need coffee to act and be a graceful, peaceful, all around decent parent; he just needs us as his children to listen when he calls us!

Most days I don’t feel like a good parent, I feel like I slack and I know some people would agree with that negative voice I have. I, most days, get upset over small stuff and get annoyed fast. RJ, my 3- year-old who is turning 4 is a handful!

She is a little miss diva who has somehow got it through her head that she is the boss, her way or no way and will antagonize her brothers to her advantage. Well on those days I have to remind myself what does god do with me when I think I’m the boss?

He forgives me and shows me grace!
